FAQ – Weddings

Do you shoot with film or digital?

Although I initially processed film in a traditional darkroom, I now shoot solely with digital. I miss many aspects of traditional film photography especially the much sought after ‘film aesthetic’ but one of the reasons I now shoot with digital is the lower environmental impact of not dealing with toxic darkroom chemicals.

How many photos do you take?

For the typical 8 hour wedding with two photographers, we will take on average anywhere between 1,000 and 1,500 shots. We then edit the final number provided to clients down to approximately 700-1,000, although this number is dependant on the wedding and the pace of the day. We feel quality is more important than quantity and strive for capturing great photos that will stand the test of time!

What kind of photographic equipment do you use?

I am currently using the Nikon D700 full frame professional camera body with professional Nikon prime and zoom lenses (i.e. f 2.8 and faster). For lighting, we prefer to use ambient light whenever possible but it’s not always available or flattering, in which case we use a combination of portable flash units and the higher powered strobe units with portable power packs. The strobe unit (with soft box and umbrellas) are used for high fashion themed group shots in addition to the always popular photo booth. Back up equipment of camera bodies and lenses will be on hand as part of our contingency plans.

Are you available for destination weddings?

Yes, I am available for a select number of destination weddings. Please inquire about availability.

Do you edit your photos?

All photos are edited for cropping, colour balance, tonal balance and sharpness. Certain photos are selected by Drew for additional artistic edits including tonal adjustment, sepia and black & white.

When do we receive our photos?

The slideshow of the ‘wedding highlights’ will be available online within one week after the wedding date. The password protected slideshow can be shared with family and friends and will be available for 6 months. Guests can order prints directly from the slideshow gallery via the secure Client Gallery online store. The client DVD of all photos in JPG format (ready for printing) will be available within 4 weeks of the wedding date.

Will Drew be photographing our wedding?

You bet! You can expect to deal with Drew for the entire wedding photography planning process and he will be the main photographer at your wedding. In addition to Drew there will be a technical assistant to help with equipment, lighting and organization, or a second photographer to capture addition angles and moments.

How do I reserve and book your services on my wedding date?

A signed contract and a 50% deposit secures your date.

Where are you located?

We are based in Toronto, Ontario in the Beach neighbourhood but will travel to any destination as required. Travel expenses are included with all wedding packages based in the GTA.
